Hélène Modébadzé is a French sculptor. She lives and works in Paris (France).
Direct carving is a solitary, arid and brutal form of art. And yet when we look at Hélène Modébadzé's sculptures we are mesmerized by so much grace, sensuality, and feelings.
Hélène carves the wood with her heart and soul. So much feelings, so much grace and sensuality exudes from
her sculptures. She makes the wood speak, cry and love. Direct carving on wood is an extremely difficult discipline.
There is no room for error and Hélène demonstrates her absolute mastering of this art.
"It is the brutal and poetic reality of man, the power the breath in a cage, the combative body that resists and surrenders. Sensuality, softness, vulnerability and the sacred are the essences of my works." - Hélène Modébadzé
